Abstract: Water is more important in shaping the land and regulation of the climate. It is one of the most importantcompounds that pro-Foundly influence life. The quality of water is usually described according to itsphysical, chemical and biological characteristics. Rapid industrialization and indiscriminate use ofchemical fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture are causing heavy varied level of pollution in aquaticenvironment leading to deterioration of water quality and depletion of aquatic biota. Due to use ofcontaminated water, human population suffers from water-borne diseases. It is therefore necessary tocheck the water quality status. The objective of this assessment was to determine physical, chemical andbiological status of water near Mayyanad and Parakkulam region.
