Design and Development of Intelligent Iot Systems Utilizing Lora Technology and Raspberry Pi
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This article examines how LoRa technology and Raspberry Pi are integrated to develop advanced IoT systems for groundwater monitoring in agricultural areas. Utilizing LoRa’s longrange, low-power data transmission, the system enables continuous monitoring over vast regions, with Raspberry Pi supporting real-time data processing and remote accessibility. In peer-to-peer LoRa communication, the transmitting module is termed the server, while the receiving module is the client. Typically, Arduino, equipped with measurement sensors, functions as the server, while Raspberry Pi is the client that processes incoming data. Thecommunication relies on a “packet forwarding„ mode, where devices transmit data packets via an intelligent gateway. This gateway uses a smart agent to manage connections, handle polling processes, decode packets, and periodically upload consolidated data to cloud applications. Featuring an embedded web server, the gateway allows remote configuration via desktop or mobile interfaces, enabling on-the-go updates. Designed for cloud integration, the system offers cost-efficient, long-distance communication, making it an ideal solution for large-scale groundwater monitoring in agriculture, requiring minimal maintenance and effort.
