Gulf-American Coordination in Confronting the Houthis: A Political and Economic Approach
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The geopolitical landscape of the Arab region is rapidly evolving, with the Houthis in Yemen emerging as a significant factor in regional security dynamics. Their repeated attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea and vital Gulf infrastructure have intensified the need for Gulf-American coordination to counter this growing threat. This research explores the strategic, political, and economic dimensions of this coordination, focusing on shared interests, potential undisclosed financial support, and military strategies. It also examines the feasibility of using advanced weaponry, such as the GBU-57 bomb, against Houthi fortifications while assessing the political and diplomatic challenges involved. The study concludes that Gulf funding for U.S. airstrikes, possibly influenced by the Trump administration's economic approach to foreign policy, may serve as a critical tool in neutralizing the Houthi threat. However, long-term success hinges on integrating military actions within a broader strategy aimed at stabilizing Yemen and managing regional power dynamics effectively
