Recurrence of Multinodular Euthyroid Goiter After Organ-preserving Operations
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: A total of 107 patients with multinodular euthyroid goiter were examined, of which 72 (67,3%) underwent subtotal thyroidectomy and 35 (32,7%) underwent Dunhill operation. The recurrence rate after subtotal thyroidectomy was 23,6%, but only 5,5% were clinically significant (4 patients were offered reoperation). Risk factors for the development of recurrence of multinodular euthyroid goiter include young age of the patient, lack of hormonal therapy, the presence of a hereditary factor, organ-preserving operations and the presence of lymphoid infiltration.
