Type: article
Abstract: Agroecology and permaculture are recognized as systemic sciences, sets of techniques, and convergent sociol-environmental movements. Both are based on modern scientific epistemologies as well as Afro-indigenous and popular perspectives, aiming to promote more autonomy and sustainability for communities organized according to their principles. Through an account of the experiences of germination and development of Sete Cascas Permaculture Study Group of the State University of Southwest Bahia (UESB), we reflect about the role of these sciences as bridges on build a diverse and anti-colonial knowledge about sustainability in the context of university teaching, research and extension.
