VIRIDIS: A Passive Life Support Architecture for Long-Duration Crewed Missions
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: ABSTRACT This whitepaper presents the design and theoretical basis for VIRIDIS, a passive, non-mechanical life support architecture intended for use in long-duration crewed missions, including surface habitats, transit vehicles, and orbital platforms. The systemleverages only established physical principles—diffusion dynamics, acoustic resonance, phase-change thermoregulation, and gas law behavior—to provide thermal and atmospheric equilibrium without reliance on fans, compressors, pumps, or valves. VIRIDIS minimizes power consumption, increases system redundancy, and reduces mechanical failure modes in critical life-sustaining infrastructure. All underlying physics are defined, and the system is constructed from commercially available materials. This document is released openly to facilitate aerospace adoption and prompt direct inquiry regarding associated protected technologies under NOESIS Resonance Inc. and founder Christian Thomas.
