Abstract: This article examines aspects of the legislative regulation of mineral extraction in the USA, aimed at ensuring the sustainable development of the mining industry. The features of the multi-level legal system, encompassing both federal and regional regulation, are highlighted, as they establish a balance between the efficient use of natural resources and adherence to environmental and social standards. Key legislative acts, such as the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act, among others, are analyzed, along with their roles in protecting the environment and workers’ health.
