Characterization of Fuel Oil from Pyrolysis of Allanblackia Floribunda Seed
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Tallow seeds collected from locally and natural grown tallow tree (TT) in Nigeria and characterized for general physical and chemical properties. The seed was pyrolyzed at a product temperature of 1250C – 3250C in a time interval of 2hrs while the shell was pyrolyzed at a product temperature of 1250C-2700C. The volume of oil formed from 1kg of both seed and shell is 175ml and 50ml respectively. The product temperature is directly proportional to the time interval and is affected by the heat source. The volume of fuel oil formed was affected by the size of condenser used to trap vapor gas. The fuel oil for the seed oil and shell oil has a flash point of 850C and 790C and Pour point of -120C and -100C respectively. The oil formed can be used in the soap making industries and also can be used in making healing balm because of the fatty acid content.
