Introduction to Open Science

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This is a lecture that starts with the basic ideas of Open Science and then provides a Kickstarter overview for researchers at Philipps-Universität Marburg. The content initially focuses on the question “Why Open Science?”, in the first part with a brief introduction to the “Publish or Perish” principle. The second part explains what Open Science entails and how this movement opposes the “publish or perish” principle. In this workshop-style lecture, participants were encouraged to actively engage in the session through discussions inspired by an idea collection collaboratively developed on a shared Miro board. In the third part, some methods and tools are presented along the "Open Science Rainbow" with links to the corresponding services at Philipps-Universität Marburg. Further information and contact details for the Open Science Initiative at Philipps-Universität Marburg can be found here: https://openscienceinitiativeuniversitymarburg.github.io/
