Abstract: The mission of EOSC-ENTRUST is to create a European network of trusted research environments (TREs) for sensitive data and to drive European interoperability through the joint development of a common blueprint for federated data access and analysis. This document presents the Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting Infrastructure (AAAI) Blueprint for TREs, a critical component designed to complement the broader TRE architecture by addressing the unique challenges of managing sensitive data, esp. controlling access to them. Recognizing that the current landscape of TREs is fragmented—with researchers encountering a multitude of disparate systems and providers struggling with incompatible technology and governance frameworks—the AAAI Blueprint builds upon the established AARC Blueprint Architecture and its guidelines. However, the demanding requirements of TREs necessitate targeted enhancements.
