Investigation of Metabolic Syndrome in Women With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (pcos): Clinical Features, Risk Assessment, and Management Strategies
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders affecting women of reproductive age, with a global prevalence estimated between 8% to 13%, depending on diagnostic criteria. It is characterized by a constellation of symptoms including hyperandrogenism, ovulatory dysfunction, and polycystic ovarian morphology. A growing body of evidence has established a strong link between PCOS and metabolic syndrome (MetS), a cluster of cardiometabolic risk factors including abdominal obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and hypertension.
