Abstract: Metaphors are essential tools in shaping public perception and guiding interpretation in both political and media discourses. This paper presents a comparative analysis of metaphor usage in these two domains, focusing on their functions, patterns, and implications. While both political and media discourses often share similar metaphorical frameworks—such as war, journey, or illness metaphors—they use them for different communicative purposes. Political discourse typically employs metaphors for persuasion and ideological framing, whereas media discourse uses them to attract attention, simplify complex issues, and generate emotional engagement. Through discourse analysis and examples from political speeches and news articles, the study illustrates how metaphors operate as strategic rhetorical devices in both fields, influencing public opinion and social behavior in subtle yet profound ways.
