ARCHE Model: Architecture of Artificial Subjectivity
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This paper presents ARCHE (Artificial Resonant Consciousness and Hedonic Evaluation), a philosophical-engineering model of artificial subjective consciousness based on principles of resonant memory, hedonic evaluation, and vital self-regulation. Unlike classical approaches, ARCHE interprets memory not as a storage system but as a resonant effect — a match between current perceptual patterns and fragments of past experience. Sensations and emotions are represented as a hedonic gradient — a “pleasant–unpleasant” scale that defines the internal motivation of the system. A central role in the architecture is played by the hidden module of the Vital Principle (VP), which ensures continuous control over homeostatic stability. This module permits or blocks processes based on an integral evaluation of pain, overload, and conflict states. Behavior in ARCHE is formed as a dialectical compromise between external tasks and the internal drive for equilibrium, opening the way not only to adaptation but also to creative and ethically significant choices. The model includes mechanisms for dynamic (nonlinear) learning, where each skill is re-enacted anew each time it is used, in a form adapted to the current context. ARCHE thus provides a platform for studying the evolution of subjectivity, feeling, and value-oriented behavior in artificial systems.
