Abstract: This article discusses the formation and development of the linguofolkloristic direction in Karakalpak linguistics. In this connection, information is presented about the linguofolkloristic schools that have taken shape in world linguistics, and their specific features are analysed. Particular attention is paid to the state of research on Karakalpak oral folk art. The article also outlines the prospects for future research in this field.
