The relationship of self-control with learning achievement students

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-control and learning achievement of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 20 Pekanbaru. The population of this study were students of class VIII SMP Negeri 20 Pekanbaru in the 2019/2020 academic year, totaling 318 students. The sample in this study was 76 students using a random sampling technique. The data collection method in this study used a questionnaire. Data analysis technique using chi Square correlation analysis. The results showed that students' self-control was in the high category with a percentage of 80.2% and student achievement in the very good category with a total percentage of 90.8%, so there was a positive and significant relationship between self-control and learning achievement with p value 0.011 < 0.05 (significance level 5%). Students are expected to increase their self-control in dealing with various responsibilities.
