Chronic Inflammation and Aging
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Chronic low-grade inflammation, sometimes known as "inflammaging," is becoming more widely acknowledged as a key contributor to the development of age-related illnesses such type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis, and neurodegenerative diseases. This article explores the relationship between chronic inflammation and immunosenescence, the progressive deterioration of immune function with aging. It examines the molecular and cellular processes underlying these occurrences, examines recent strategies to halt immunological deterioration, and talks about the clinical ramifications. Evidence-based tactics that may lengthen life expectancy by lessening the effects of these interconnected processes are highlighted.
