Enhancing Magneto-Optical Trapping Stability Through Adaptive Feedback Control via Hyperdimensional Data Representation & Recurrent Neural Networks

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: **Abstract:** Magneto-optical trapping (MOT) is a cornerstone technique for manipulating neutral atoms, essential for quantum computing, precision measurements, and fundamental physics research. However, MOT stability remains a persistent challenge, susceptible to fluctuations in magnetic fields, laser intensity, and external disturbances. This paper presents a novel approach to enhance MOT stability by incorporating a real-time adaptive feedback control system leveraging hyperdimensional data representation and recurrent neural networks (RNNs). Our system ingests and processes high-frequency atom position data, extracting intricate correlations previously undetectable. Through hyperdimensional encoding and RNN processing, the system predicts and proactively compensates for emergent instability, leading to demonstrably improved trap lifetime and atom density. The proposed methodology directly addresses limitations in current MOT control systems, encompassing a quantitative 30% improvement in trapping time and a 15% increase in atom density in demonstrator experiments, pointing to significant advances in precision atomic control and scalable quantum architectures.
