Abstract: Technological advancements have significantly impacted various business sectors, including supermarkets, whichhave adopted advanced solutions to enhance productivity and meet modern retail challenges. This study examines therole of technology in supermarkets in Coimbatore, focusing on supply chain management, inventory control,customer management, and online sales. It explores tools such as self-billing machines, automated charging points,mobile payments, and point-of-sale systems, alongside the rise of e-commerce, particularly during and after theCOVID-19 pandemic.Using surveys with supermarket managers and employees and qualitative interviews, theresearch highlights how technologies improve efficiency by minimizing stock issues, streamlining payments, andenhancing customer relationship management (CRM) for targeted promotions and loyalty programs. E-commercehas extended market reach and simplified shopping experiences. However, challenges like high costs, employeetraining, and transaction security remain.The findings confirm that adopting technology modernizes supermarketoperations, boosts efficiency, and enhances service quality, positioning supermarkets for competitive success in theglobal retail industry despite implementation challenges.
