Abstract: As the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to emerge as the next major stage in the evolution of the Internet, it is essential to explore both its wide range of potential application areas and the associated research challenges. IoT is anticipated to deeply integrate into various sectors such as smart cities, healthcare, agriculture, logistics, retail, smart homes, and intelligent environments, influencing nearly every aspect of daily life. Despite notable advancements in IoT technologies in recent years, several unresolved issues remain. The integration of diverse and heterogeneous technologies within IoT naturally gives rise to multiple research challenges. Given its broad scope and impact across numerous domains, IoT has become a crucial topic of interest in fields like information technology and computer science. This paper highlights the latest progress in IoT and examines the emerging applications and key areas for future research.
