Shifting Alliances: Global Power Dynamics by 2025

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This research document maps the fast-moving US–India tariff dispute and tests the idea of India’s “strategic autonomy” in a multipolar world. It explains why differential treatment toward China/EU is more complex than headlines, how RIC/BRICS diplomacy reshapes bargaining space, and why a tentative LAC de-risking helps but doesn’t erase structural mistrust. The paper lays out three near-term scenarios, sector exposures (textiles, gems/jewelry, auto parts), and practical watch-items for leaders. The aim is decision support: convert geopolitics into HS-code risks, currency/energy sensitivities, and realistic policy timelines.
