Synthesis and Characterization of Acetals from Biomass Derived Furfural as a Platform Chemical
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: ABSTRACT Originating from lignocellulosic biomass, furfuraldehyde is a promising and renewable platform chemical that can be transformed into value-added compounds like biochemicals and biofuel additives. Furfural's structural formula includes a carbonyl group with the crucial and reactive functionality (C=O). which can produce chemicals with added value by oxidizing, reducing, condensing, and converting many other functional groups. Therefore, in the current work, we have synthesized acetal derivatives from furfural and higher alcohols with two to three drops of mineral acid present. Methanol, ethanol, 1-propanol, 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, 1- hexanol, 1-heptanol, and 1-octanol are among the intoxicants. And GCMS HNMR were characterized of synthesized products
