Abstract: The reason why the people of the Sangam period enjoyed and felt the value of nature was the reason for creating quality products. They enriched trade through the goods they sold and improved their economy. This is because Karikala Chola did not only aim to defeat his enemies, but also expanded the forests and lakes, increased wealth, cultivated excellent agriculture in the fields, and with his commercial skills, he was constantly exporting and importing various types of goods. In addition, the Sangam literary work Pattinapalai explains the characteristics of merchants and the characteristics of waving flags to identify the types of goods.
