Co-pyrolysis of rice husk and cattle manure in N2/CO2 atmosphere

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Co-pyrolysis of rice husk (RH) and cattle manure (CM) was carried out in N2/CO2 atmosphere in a fixed pyrolysis furnace. The effects of pyrolysis temperature and ratio of RH to CM on pyrolysis products were investigated. The results showed that the co-pyrolysis of RH and CM demonstrated a synergistic effect, significantly enhancing hydrogen production and altering tar composition. The mass loss rate was increased by 5.01%. The highest H2 content (26.34%) was obtained at 800°C in RHCM1:0. Co-pyrolysis reduced the content of PAHs in tar, while it increased the content of aliphatic hydrocarbons and oxygen-containing aliphatic hydrocarbons. Compared with the H2 and CO content in N2 atmosphere, they were increased by 30.25% and 30.69%, respectively at 800°C in RHCM1:1 in CO2 atmosphere. Meanwhile, the content of aliphatic hydrocarbons was increased and the types of PAHs were reduced in CO2 atmosphere.
