The application of human visual attention in machine vision
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Machine vision is still a challenging topic and attracts manyresearchers to research in this field. The main differencebetween machine vision and human vision is that, machinecan see images as a set of pixels, while human can usedcognitive capabilities in identifying the contents of the image.Attention is one of the important properties of Human VisionSystem, with which the human can focus only on part of thescene at a time; scenes with more abrupt features shall attracthuman attention more than other regions. In this paper, weshall simulate the human attention and discuss its applicationin machine vision and how it will improve the result of theretrieval process and image identification and understanding.Artificial intelligence shall be used in the proposed algorithmto cluster the salient points that were obtained either from eyetrackers or from saliency extraction techniques.
