Editorial Peer Review: Its Strengths and Weakness

Year: 2024
Type: editorial
Abstract: This book is considered the first significant work that provides a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the process of reviewing works in scientific journals. The author, Dr. Ann C. Weller (Associate Professor and Associate Director at the University of Illinois at Chicago's Library of Health Sciences), presents a systematic, thorough, and organized review of published studies related to the peer review of works in the following broad areas: general studies on the rejection rates of submissions, studies conducted on editors, studies on authors, and studies on reviewers. The book concludes with an examination of new models of the peer review process aimed at enhancing scientific communication as this process transitions from a print environment to an electronic one. "The Peer Review Process in Scientific Journals" is a unique work that will be beneficial for editors, reviewers, publishers, professionals in specialized academic societies, authors, researchers, librarians, and all others involved in the production, acquisition, and dissemination of texts and scientific outputs.
