Abstract: Documentation is a process aimed at ensuring that each name, contractual title, acronym, or subject selected as public catalog retrieval points is unique and does not conflict with other identifiers that have previously been in the catalog or may be added later due to similarity. The network of references serves as a framework that holds all of them together. The documented list of names of institutions, organizations, and government agencies in Iran has been compiled with the goal of gathering the latest information regarding changes in Iranian government entities, with an emphasis on the past 17 years (from 1986 to 2003). This is intended not only to create a comprehensive information database of the names of ministries, government entities, and their affiliated organizations, along with a brief history of name changes, mergers, or splits, but also to serve as a reference for organizing and retrieving information by library and information science professionals in the country, while also reflecting the evolution of the names of executive bodies.
