Information and Documentation - Thesauri and interoperability with other vocabularies Part 1: Thesauri for information retrieval- BS ISO 25964-1:2011
Year: 2024
Type: book
Abstract: The Z39-19-2005 standard is the latest available standard in the field of thesauri, which is not available in the market as a translated book; rather, each author has translated parts of it as needed and incorporated them into their own works. Therefore, the translation of this standard, published in 2011 (which had been available as a draft for three years), is the first work in the field of thesaurus standards, and its translation is essential for improving published or in-progress thesauri. Specific features of the book: - The ISO 25964 standard provides a way to document, index, and create thesauri; - The standard offers a data model and a proposed format for the input and output of thesaurus data; - The ISO 25964 standard is applicable to both monolingual and multilingual thesauri; - It provides recommendations for creating and maintaining thesauri designed for information retrieval; - The standard can serve as a relatively simple manual for organizing information and creating thesauri; - It is intended for use by librarians, indexing and thesaurus specialists, linguists, and others.
