Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Private equity (PE) is playing an increasingly influential role in U.S. healthcare, raising both concerns and opportunities. This report, produced by the UNC Center for the Business of Health and the Institute for Private Capital, explores PE’s expanding presence and draws on insights from a multi-stakeholder research symposium. It highlights key challenges such as misaligned incentives, pricing pressures, and equity risks, along with opportunities to improve efficiency, partner with healthcare experts, and support innovation through ethical and strategic investment.
