Abstract: The implementation of inclusive education remains inconsistent despite its proven benefits for students with disabilities. This discrepancy often stems from ableist practices and attitudes within educational systems, which are not always evident to educators. This dissertation examines the role of epistemic cognition (EC) in enabling teachers to identify and understand ableism in educational settings, using a model that integrates elements of critical disability studies (CDS) with EC theory.
