Beijing Platform for Action and Progress of Uzbekistan on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment

Abstract: With only five years left before Agenda 2030 to be achieved, progress on SDG Goal 5 on gender equality remains off track. No single country on the globe has implemented all relevant laws to prohibit discrimination, prevent gender-based violence, uphold equal rights in marriage and divorce, guarantee equal pay, and provide full access to sexual and reproductive health. With the current pace, it will take an additional 137 to end extreme poverty among women. This article is devoted to review the gender equality and women's empowerment status of Uzbekistan with various aspects. The author and co-authors assessed the ongoing reforms with evidence based data.
