Countering Challenges to the Development of National Universities Based on Their Management of Internationalization

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The paper explores the importance and possible strategies for countering the challenges faced by national universities in relation to the internationalization process. Internationalization of higher education has become an increasingly significant phenomenon at the present time as universities seek to attract students and faculty from other countries, establish international partnerships and expand their global reputation. However, internationalization can create a number of challenges for national universities. These challenges may include language barriers, cultural differences, differences in education systems and student expectations, and loss of identity and competition from foreign institutions. The authors have proposed various strategies to counter these challenges. First, it is worth developing special support programs for international students, including language courses, cultural adaptation, academic assistance and social support. Secondly, it is necessary to improve the admission and administration systems to facilitate the process of arrival and installation of international students. It is also important to create cross-cultural understanding and respect among students and faculty through various cross-cultural programs and exchange. The authors also consider issues related to the preservation of the identity and cultural dignity of national universities. Active cooperation with foreign universities is proposed on the basis of mutually beneficial partnerships and knowledge exchange, as well as the creation of special programs that will preserve and disseminate the unique academic and cultural history of their national university
