Can Air Forces Survive Without Space?
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article emphasizes the strategic importance of integrating space capabilities within air forces for national security. It reviews historical context and current trends among global players like the U.S., China, Russia, and Europe. The Hellenic Air Force pioneered this integration by creating a space center in 1977 and incorporating space into its ISR capabilities over 30 years. The analysis advocates for HAF to regain authority over ISR space-based assets, aligning with airpower theory and European trends. This approach enhances the precision and effectiveness of air and space operations, maintaining a competitive edge in modern military challenges.
