Abstract: Nephalius spiniger (Blanchard, 1847) (Fig. 8) Miopteryx spiniger Blanchard, 1847: 209. Sphaerion spinigerum; Burmeister, 1865: 167. Periboeum spinigerum; Gemminger, 1872: 2824. Nephalius spiniger; Martins, 2005: 99. Remarks. This species was described based on a single specimen from Bolivia (Santa Cruz). Blanchard (1847) did not indicate the sex of the holotype. Currently, it is known from Brazil (Goiás and Mato Grosso), Bolivia (Santa Cruz, Tarija), Paraguay, Argentina (Catamarca, La Rioja, Santiago del Estero, Córdoba, Mendoza, and Buenos Aires), and Uruguay (Monné 2024a; Tavakilian & Chevillotte 2023).
