Wildlife corridors in India
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Introduction The broad umbrella of wildlife put forward by the expert committee of the Indian Board for Wildlife in 1970 was "the entire uncultivated flora and fauna of the country." Given its varied ecosystems and immense biodiversity, India is home to a vast array of wildlife species. However, as infrastructure, agriculture, and urbanization grow quickly, natural areas are becoming more fragmented, endangering species. In simple terms, a wildlife corridor is a stretch of habitat that connects historically related but otherwise separate habitat regions.
