Formulation, Evaluation, and Optimization of Mucilage-Based Nanoparticles for Fluvastatin Delivery

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Fluvastatin, a commonly prescribed statin for hyperlipidemia and cardiovascular diseases, faces challenges related to its poor aqueous solubility and low bioavailability. To overcome these limitations, various drug delivery systems have been explored, including natural polymer-based nanoparticles. Among these, mucilage, a biopolymer derived from plant sources, offers several advantages such as biocompatibility, biodegradability, and the ability to form stable nanoparticulate systems. This review aims to summarize the current approaches in the formulation, evaluation, and optimization of mucilage-based nanoparticles for fluvastatin delivery, with a focus on enhancing drug solubility, bioavailability, and therapeutic outcomes.
