Abstract: Looking at the history of Tamil drama, drama has witnessed many important new developments after 1891. The Tamil drama world, which was corrupt and devoid of social values, was transformed into theatres for the common people after the arrival of Sankara Das Swami. At the same time, Pammal Sambandha Mudaliar founded the Sugunavilasa Sabha in Chennai, and translated Shakespeare's plays and some vernacular plays into Tamil, and staged his own works like "Manokara".
