"uzbekchilik": a Social Phenomenon or a Process?

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: In the article, the author analyzes the issue of "Uzbekchilik" from a sociological point of view, as a unique social event or process in society, that is, as a "closed" topic that has not yet been brought up for scientific discussion. Its closed nature attracts attention not as a kind of censorship but as the unwillingness of society itself to be as "open" as possible. When studying the problem, depending on its importance, an answer was sought to the question of whether it is a social "event" or "process". As a methodological and theoretical concept, the author analyzes the problem using the approaches of "symbolic interactionism", "dramaturgical sociology" and "fragment theory". In Uzbek society, existing stereotypes in consciousness and thinking, many prohibitions in it or existing, "taboos" in socially active life, which are ignored, are sought precisely in "Uzbekchilik". The uniqueness of the task lies in its adaptability to various conditions and interactions.
