Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: : The development of writing skills is a multifaceted process that benefits significantly from metacognitive strategies. Metacognition, defined as the awareness and regulation of one's cognitive processes, plays a crucial role in enhancing writing proficiency. This article explores the application of metacognitive methods in writing, focusing on three key components: planning, monitoring, and evaluating. Effective planning involves brainstorming and outlining, allowing writers to establish clear goals and structures. During the writing process, self-monitoring techniques enable writers to assess their coherence and alignment with the intended message. Finally, post-writing evaluation fosters critical reflection on strengths and weaknesses, guiding revisions for improved clarity and effectiveness. The integration of metacognitive strategies in writing instruction not only increases awareness and self-regulation but also enhances problem-solving skills and writer confidence. By adopting these approaches, educators can empower students to become more proficient and adaptable writers, ultimately leading to greater success in their academic and professional endeavors.
