Status of Ichthyofaunal Diversity and Seasonal Physico-Chemical Variations of Charipunia Beel, Morigaon District, Assam

Abstract: This study was conducted to evaluate the ichthyofaunal diversity, plankton dynamics, and seasonal variations in key physico-chemical parameters of Charipunia Beel, Morigaon district, Assam, over a one-year period (May 2022 to April 2023). A total of 26 fish species across 18 genera, 11 families, and 4 orders were identified. Water quality parameters remained within favorable ranges for fish production, indicating the beel's ecological stability. However, the presence of Vulnerable and Near Threatened fish species underscores the need for targeted conservation and sustainable management practices.
