RELEASE Handbook - good practices & practical alternatives

Abstract: This Handbook builds upon data collected throughout the RELEASE project, particularly prac-titioner-participants’ experiences voiced in the events organised as part of the project. The different backgrounds represented by the target groups (judges, prosecutors and lawyers) helped to enable the collection and compilation of a cross-professional panorama of good practices and gaps. The Handbook is therefore based on different points of view, which will help to give a better understanding of how alternative measures can be applied at the national level and will facilitate mutual understanding and cooperation among different professionals – with the common goal of imposing pre-trial detention as a measure of last resort.
