Abstract: Madurai Thirumaran (1936-1981) is one of the creators of historical plays in Tamil theatre. Rasipuram Subramaniar Manohar has achieved great fame by performing his historical plays in Tamil Nadu, various parts of India and in the world. The achievements of the actor and the creator in the world of Tamil theatre through staging are commendable. Madurai Thirumaran's five historical plays have been staged by R. S. Manohar and social plays have been staged by O.E.K. Thevar, Sangili Murugan and Narasimhan S.V. Ramadhasu. In this article, we will look at the historical drama creations of Thangaiyan Maruthamuthu alias Madurai Thirumaran, who was a historical novelist, historical playwright and social playwright.
