Abstract: Generally, the educational process has been dominated by two modes of education viz. faceto-face education and distance education. Both modes of education may have an impact on the academic performance of students. The present study focuses on strengthening the distance education mode for the enhancement of overall academic growth of learners. As distance education has revolutionized the whole learning process and provided opportunities for the students to access education from anywhere and at any time, this paper studies the concept, historical perspective, attributes, challenges, and strategies to strengthen distance education.
