The TANGENT Dashboard as a Next Generation Traffic and Transport Management System

Abstract: The TANGENT project is exploring novel techniques for Dynamic Management of Multimodal Traffic in fourEuropean cities. This article provides an overview of the architecture of the TANGENT Tool that is beingimplemented to support this project. It includes a tour of the Dashboard of the TANGENT Tool, focusing bothfunctional and technical aspects, such as the way data visualisation is made uniform in the platform and howmetadata drives the behaviour of different visualisation tools. The TANGENT Tool Planning and IncidentManagement features are also described, showing how the visualisation features still drive these more advanceduse cases such as in Simulation and Cooperative Incident Management. Given this functionality set, a novelplatform is proposed, the Next Generation Traffic and Transport Management System.
