The essential importance and scientific justification of approaches to the formation and development of labor potential in Ukraine

Abstract: The subject of the research. The article proves that the socio–economic development of Ukrainelargely depends on the volume and efficiency of the use of labor potential in today’s extremely difficulteconomic conditions. It was determined that priorities in the preservation and development of laborpotential are an important part of the state social policy. The date of appearance of the concept of«labor potential» in domestic science is indicated.The research methods. Labor potential, in the context of human resources, is defined as an integralassessment of the quantitative and qualitative characteristics of the economically active population.The labor potential as a form of manifestation of the human factor in production is outlined, the levelsof manifestation are determined.The results of the work. It was determined that the initial structural unit of the labor potentialis the labor potential of the worker (personality), which serves as the basis for the formation of laborpotentials at higher structural levels.Scope of the results. The components of the labor potential of the worker (personality) andits components are given. Generalized indicators of labor potential at the level of society have beendetermined. The main scientific approaches to the study of labor potential are highlighted.Conclusions. Labor potential as «opportunities» was studied. The economic essence of the conceptof development in relation to a person is defined. scientific approaches to defining the content of theterm «economically active population» were supplemented and the economic essence of the term«labour potential of the country» was defined.
