Computational Fluid Dynamics-Based Evaluation of Car Body Design for Enhanced Aerodynamic Performance
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The demand for energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable vehicles has significantly increased the importance of aerodynamic optimization in automotive design. This study presents a comprehensive approach to modelling and analysing the aerodynamic performance of a car body using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). A streamlined 3D model of a generic passenger vehicle was developed in Solid Works, incorporating key aerodynamic features such as a sloped hood, curved roof, and a tapered rear end. The simulation, conducted using Solid Works Flow Simulation, evaluates critical parameters including the drag coefficient (Cd), lift coefficient (Cl), pressure distribution, and airflow patterns around the vehicle
