Abstract: This presentation focuses on the long-term preservation and archiving of research data. It highlights the importance of data preservation for future studies and examines real-world cases of valuable information loss. The presentation explores key challenges, including technological obsolescence, lack of standardization, and legal issues. It also provides best practices for effective data preservation, such as using open formats, regular backups, metadata documentation, and trusted repositories. Special attention is given to the role of technology, including cloud storage, blockchain, and artificial intelligence, in ensuring data security. Finally, the presentation discusses future trends in data preservation and the significance of institutional policies in safeguarding scientific knowledge.
