Abstract: The article gives an overview of the evolution of subsonic combustion and ramjet engines. A review of worldwide development is provided from the initial testing phase to the current applications. The explanation briefly covers how a ramjet engine works. The article further discusses the major programs undertaken and the countries that made significant contribution in the evolution and success of the ramjet designs. The summary covers how different military programs use variants of ramjets. It also provides a brief overview of ducted rockets and explores the potential of boron particles as fuel, offering future opportunities to overcome existing challenges.
