Unified Theory of Time as Emergent from Quantum Thermodynamics

Abstract: In this paper, we explore the hypothesis that electromagnetism (EM) arises as an emergent phenomenon driven by quantum entanglement constraints in the vacuum. Building on analogies from condensed matter physics, holography, and quantum information, we propose that photons—massless spin-1 excitations—can be viewed as “fungible” quanta born out of a deeply entangled ground state. We sketch a possible lattice-based framework wherein local constraints, reminiscent of Gauss’s law, generate an emergent gauge invariance. We outline how one might test this idea by calculating entanglement measures and correlation functions, showing that in principle it can reproduce the low-energy physics of electromagnetism. Our purpose is not to claim definitive proof, but to highlight a conceptual and potentially verifiable path for treating the electromagnetic field as a product of fundamental entanglement.
