eDNAqua-Plan Deliverable 7: Report on eDNA data repositories
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: This report contains an inventory of the ongoing and completed environmental DNA (eDNA)initiatives and repositories, identifying their geographical, ecological and taxonomiccoverages. It includes a brief description of the methodologies used to perform theinventorying. The inventory was sought in three different ways: Manual review of 29 resources (eDNA and reference libraries) by the bioinformaticsteam for 40 properties. A questionnaire sent out to eDNA research teams, for which(60) responses wereneatly collated. Automated(LLM) mining of scientific papers This inventory allowed us to obtain a good overview of the current initiatives and databasesbeing used for eDNA data sharing and publication and to identify the main gaps and areasfor improvement.
