Economic Analysis of Thermal Energy Storage Integration in Small Modular Reactors Balance of Plant

Abstract: This article considers the ALFRED reactor coupled with a molten salt thermal energy storage. Many different possibility are considered. Capital, operational and mantinence costs are evaluated as well as the increase in revenues generated by the thermal storage. The article reports also a discounted cash flow analysis and gives indication on the most economically profitable plant configurations.
